A wireless headphone kit and a luggage piece, matched by color and sold as one. Premium Audio Travel Set, $2,900.
June 1. Sony and Carl Friedrik released the Premium Audio Travel Set this morning: the Sony 1000X The Collexion wireless headphones paired with Carl Friedrik's Carry-on X. One unit, $2,900. Color-matched across both pieces.
The headphones are the 1000X model, released last year as a premium tier above Sony's WH line. The luggage is Carl Friedrik's polycarbonate carry-on, the model with the aluminum corner guards. Both come in a single colorway: matte charcoal with brass hardware. The set includes a hard-shell headphone case that nests inside the luggage's front compartment.
This is the second collab Carl Friedrik has done this year, after the Aesop grooming kit in February. The structure is consistent: match the external finish, co-brand the packaging, ship as a single SKU. Sony has stayed quiet on collabs outside of Fragment and a one-off with Dior Homme in 2024. This one lands softer: luggage brand meets audio brand, both already in the frequent-flyer register.
The price sits $400 above buying both separately. The premium buys the matched finish and the nested case. The headphones alone retail at $1,200; the Carry-on X at $1,300. The set is online-only, limited to 500 units. Carl Friedrik's site lists 142 remaining as of this filing.
The collab reads as alignment rather than stunt. Two brands that already occupy the same customer (business travel, neutral palette, durable finish) selling the pairing as intentional. No capsule drop. No surprise artist. Just two objects that sit next to each other anyway, now sold that way.
