May 12. Zanzotti unveiled the Lemmo Zero, a foldable e-bike built around a carbon monocoque frame that collapses to 72cm by 48cm by 32cm. The bike weighs 15kg total, frame alone at 8kg. That's lighter than most city bikes by a third.
The fold mechanism is three-point: stem, seat post, rear triangle. Zanzotti claims sub-30-second deployment. No tools. The battery slots into the downtube and detaches for charging. Range sits at 50km on a single charge, assisted pedaling only. Top speed limited to 25km/h to meet EU L1e-A classification.
The frame is unibody carbon, no visible welds. Zanzotti worked with Italian aerospace supplier Persico to mold the structure as a single piece. The result reads cleaner than most folding bikes, which tend to show their hinges. Here the joints are recessed into the frame geometry. You notice them when folding, not when riding.
Retail price is €3,200. Pre-orders open May 20 through Zanzotti's site. First shipments scheduled for late June. The brand is positioning this as trunk-ready transport for second-home commutes, not as a last-mile solution. Fair. At that price point, the buyer already has a car.
The Lemmo Zero joins a small category of high-end foldables that prioritize material over mechanism. Brompton still dominates the commuter fold market, but carbon monocoques are a different play. Lighter, stiffer, more expensive. Zanzotti's betting there's a segment willing to pay luxury margins for a bike that fits in the Range Rover.
Worth noting: the frame comes in one size. Zanzotti lists the fit range as 165cm to 185cm. Outside that window, you're looking at a different bike. Adjustable, but not infinitely.
